About CanAdapt

CanAdapt is a vibrant peer network platform built for Canadian professionals who are dedicated to helping communities and industries become more resilient, while also working towards reducing carbon pollution and adapting to the effects of climate change. This innovative network was initiated by the Resilience by Design Lab at Royal Roads University and the Climate Risk Institute, alongside a network of partners.

Our vision is to create a resilient and sustainable Canada that leads by example in global climate change adaptation efforts. CanAdapt envisions a country where communities and ecosystems are robustly prepared to face climate challenges, thriving through innovation, collaboration, and the widespread implementation of effective adaptation strategies.

Our mission is to empower professionals across various sectors in Canada with the necessary knowledge, tools, and network to effectively implement climate change adaptation and low-carbon strategies.

Our mission is accomplished through:

  1. Facilitating a Collaborative Network: Creating a dynamic platform where Canadian professionals can connect, share insights, and collaborate on adaptation projects.
  2. Providing Education and Resources: Organizing workshops, seminars, and events that offer the latest in adaptation knowledge, techniques, and policies.
  3. Improving Access to Funding: Facilitating access to necessary funding and resources that support the development and execution of impactful adaptation projects.
  4. Creating Specialized Sub-networks: Offering tailored support and expertise through sector-specific networks such as infrastructure and forestry to address unique challenges.

CanAdapt values innovation and sustainability. We believe in strengthening the resilience of Canadian communities and ecosystems in order to help human beings thrive.
